Canucks For Kids Fund Transforms Pediatric Care at Burnaby Hospital

For nearly four decades, the Canucks for Kids Fund has been an advocate of children’s health, contributing to charities across British Columbia. In an inspiring act of commitment, the Canucks for Kids Fund recently made a generous $400,000 donation to Burnaby Hospital Foundation, marking a pivotal moment in their unwavering dedication to supporting community health. This remarkable donation helped launch the Pediatric Rapid Access Clinic as part of the hospital’s redevelopment, expanding pediatric services and enhancing care for over 500,000 people in the community and surrounding areas.

This modern clinic is designed to transform how urgent pediatric care is delivered, offering services for children with acute medical conditions in a calm, child-friendly environment that is separate from the active Emergency Department (ED). The clinic serves infants through 17-year-olds, providing urgent assessments, follow-up care, minor procedures, diagnostic tests, IV therapy, and wound care. What makes this clinic especially unique is its focus on reducing stress for both children and their families. By offering quick assessments and timely care in a soothing environment, the clinic ensures that every child receives the best possible care without the chaos and anxiety often associated with a busy ED.
