This isn’t just a race. It’s a movement.
In June 2026, three Canadians will take on one of the toughest endurance races in the world. The Race to Alaska (known as R2AK) runs 750 miles from Port Townsend, WA, to Ketchikan, AK with no motors and no outside support. Meet the team below.

But this challenge is about more than endurance.
It’s about strengthening healthcare in our community, supporting better care, better outcomes, and a healthier future for everyone.
Through this effort, we’re helping Burnaby Hospital & Community Foundation fund the tools, spaces, and support patients need, now and for years to come.
The Change You Make Possible
As an orthopedic surgeon at Burnaby Hospital, I rely on advanced technology and equipment, such as real-time imaging systems, robotic-assisted surgical tools, and surgical navigation systems, to perform the procedures my patients need. This allows my team and me to visualize bones and joints as we operate, helping us confirm alignment, guide implants accurately, and make immediate adjustments on the table when it matters most.
Access to this level of equipment is essential to delivering high-quality surgical care, but it comes at a high cost. That’s why we are raising $250,000 to help bring this vital equipment to our operating rooms. Your support will help ensure that my team and I at Burnaby Hospital have what we need to deliver safe, high-quality care close to home.
