No dampened spirits at wet Burnaby Lake Run
It was windy. It was cold. And it was very, very wet. Yet hundreds of participants still put on a brave face for a day of family fun – and a good cause – at the Burnaby Lake Run last Sunday. This year’s run, put on by the LaPower Running Club and sponsored by Concord, included a 1.8-kilometer run for kids as well as five and ten-kilometer runs. With proceeds benefitting Burnaby Hopsital Foundation, many showed up despite the weather. Local elected representatives who participated included Vancouver-Kingsway MP and B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix, Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley and Burnaby Councillor James Wang. The winner of the ten-kilometer run, Carey Nelson donated his first-place prize directly to the Foundation.
