How the Sandra Schmirler Foundation is changing the lives of Burnaby Hospital’s Tiniest Patients
The Sandra Schmirler Foundation is committed to honouring Sandra’s legacy and keeping her love of family alive by giving babies born too soon, too small or too sick the chance to grow up to be a champion, just like the Olympic gold medal curler. The organization’s dedication has ensured that over 60 hospitals across Canada, and counting, are equipped with life-saving neonatal intensive care (NICU) equipment.
Recently, Burnaby Hospital has been generously granted the support of the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, who funded an Olympic Smart Scale, two breast pumps and one Kangaroo breast feeding chair for a total of $20,500.
“We are honoured to help support the needs of Burnaby Hospital”, said Ian Cunningham, Chair, Sandra Schmirler Foundation Board of Directors. “All champions start small and it is our pleasure to fund these pieces of equipment to help families in the Burnaby area.”
While the babies cared for in Burnaby Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are our tiniest and most fragile patients, their futures are bright, thanks to the generosity of the Sandra Schmirler Foundation.
