Fire at Burnaby Hospital

November 16, 2020

A fire at Burnaby Hospital late in the evening on November 15th has caused smoke and water damage to a non-patient area of the facility, including the Foundations offices. Thankfully no injuries have been reported and firefighters were able to put out the blaze and spent several hours clearing smoke and making it safe for people to re-enter.

At this time there is no clear indication as to when Foundation staff will be able to return to the campus or open it’s offices to the public. The Foundation does however remain open, and will continue to function at near full capacity remotely. Donations are still gratefully accepted at and by mail. Please note, there may be a slight delay in processing mailed tax receipts and other correspondence while we fine tune our remote operations. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you to the Burnaby Firefighters, who have been longtime supporters of Burnaby Hospital, and whose heroic actions Sunday night helped save our vital community hospital.

Please check back for more information as it becomes available.
