Celebrating Excellence: BHF VP, Honoured as AHP’s 40 under 40 Award Recipient
We are thrilled to announce that Burnaby Hospital Foundation Vice President of Development, Danielle Sleiman, has been recognized as an Association of Healthcare Philanthropy’s (AHP) 40 Under 40 Award Recipient.
Over the past five years, Danielle has helped drive Burnaby Hospital Foundation’s success, increasing annual revenue from $3 million to $13.4 million in 2023. Her strategic vision and dedication have helped to transform financial support for the Foundation’s initiatives, benefiting Burnaby Hospital and its community. As the Proud History, Bright Future Campaign manager, Danielle aimed to raise $30 million for the hospital’s redevelopment. Surpassing this goal in under three years, the campaign attracted record-breaking donor support despite the COVID-19 pandemic and economic uncertainty.
With over a decade of expertise in healthcare philanthropy, Danielle holds a Bachelor of Communications from Simon Fraser University and an Associate Certificate in Marketing from BCIT. She is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) and has completed Minerva Foundation’s Women Leading the Way Program. Active in professional circles, Danielle has served on the Curriculum Subcommittee for the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy’s (AHP) Convene Canada Conference and the Media Subcommittee of AFP Canada. She helped launch the “Bubbles and Brunch” event for Family Services of the North Shore, raising over $200,000 in its first year. She also co-taught the CFRE exam prep course for fundraisers and organized professional development events for AFP Greater Vancouver Chapter.
“Danielle’s contributions and astute leadership make her a deserving recipient of the 40 Under 40 award. Her ability to energize staff, volunteers, and board members, combined with her visionary thinking and unparalleled execution, has elevated our standing within the community and charitable sector,” says Burnaby Hospital Foundation President and CEO, Kristy James. “Congratulations, Danielle, on this well-deserved recognition.”
