Supporting Burnaby Hospital’s ICU
Burnaby Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a crucial part of our hospital that provides critical care and life support for seriously ill patients. We need your help to ensure high quality care for even more patients.
We are looking to our community to help raise funds to purchase new pieces of essential equipment needed for an expanding hospital. The equipment that we require are used daily to support some of the sickest patients in the hospital.
URGENT EQUIPMENT NEEDS
All equipment is designated to be used in the Intensive Care Unit and Respirology Department.
Ventilator

$75,000
Equipment Description
A piece of medical technology that provides mechanical ventilation by moving breathable air into and out of the lungs to deliver breaths to a patient who is physically unable to breathe, or breathing insufficiently.
Vital Signs Monitors (x5)

$5,000
Equipment Description
Vital signs monitors are used to display patient information and read basic medical indicators, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation levels at precise intervals.
Handheld Pulse Oximeter

$1,000
Equipment Description
Pulse Oximeters deliver accurate and reliable readings for heart rates and oxygen levels. These must-have machines are widely used in a hospital setting for continuous monitoring, spot checks, walk tests, and patient transport.
Actual equipment purchased may vary from equipment displayed above. Excess funds raised through this campaign will support the upgrades to the ICU department in Burnaby Hospital through the Proud History, Bright Future redevelopment campaign.

Throughout my decades of practicing medicine, I have seen many changes in technology, and I must stress that our current equipment is outdated and many are beyond their life expectancies.
It’s crucially important that we raise funds to purchase new and upgraded equipment so that our ICU, as well as so many other departments in the hospital, are well-equipped to support every person that seeks medical care in our hospital.
