Burnaby Hospital has one of the largest and most experienced minimally invasive surgery practices in the Province, performing thousands of procedures each year.  Minimally invasive surgery is performed both on an inpatient and outpatient basis.  One of the most critical elements of any surgical operation is to ensure that our surgeons are equipped with the most up-to-date surgical equipment possible for optimum patient outcomes. There is a variety of specialized equipment used for minimally invasive procedures, and a Surgical Telescope in one of them.  If fact, minimally invasive surgeries cannot be performed without a Surgical Telescope.  For patients, minimally invasive surgery using Surgical Telescopes results in less trauma to the body, less blood loss, smaller surgical scars, less need for pain medication, and helps patients return to normal activities sooner.
