A bladder scanner is not a romantic-sounding piece of diagnostic equipment, but when it saves having a catheter inserted; it is music to a patient’s ears.  A bladder scanner is a portable, non-invasive ultrasound diagnostic technology used to determine if a catheter must be inserted to drain a patient’s bladder— a painful procedure with a high risk of infection.  A bladder scanner helps in the diagnosis of a number of medical conditions, including: renal failure, spinal injury, lesions, cancer or urinary problems like prostate enlargement, urinary incontinence and other lower urinary tract diseases. It helps to treating patients quickly, while also preserving their comfort and dignity.
