Sunday, September 11th marked a big success for Burnaby Hospital Foundation’s Rhythm of Life: The Run and Walk for Everyone, with over 400 participants raising $71,500 to help purchase urgently-needed equipment at Burnaby Hospital.

“Rhythm of Life is truly a unique event because it creates awareness about the need to build a healthy future for our community,” said Cheryl Bosley, President with Burnaby Hospital Foundation. “The $71,500 raised will support the Healthy Heart Program at Burnaby Hospital and help purchase a $30,000 defibrillator for the hospital’s busy Emergency Department.”

Burnaby Hospital Foundation's Director of Annual Giving Maura Fitzpatrick (centre left) received a $5,000 donation from Tom Waddell, Dianne Pastro, and Lou Pastro on behalf of the South Burnaby Legion No. 83. This generous donation was raised through the legion's annual poppy fundraiser, and will help purchase critically-needed beds at Burnaby Hospital.

South Burnaby Legion No. 83 is a branch of The Royal Canadian Legion, an organization created in 1926 to support veterans and promote the remembrance of those who gave their lives in the wars and military missions around the world. Each year, the Legion supports numerous charities through its fundraising activities like the Annual Poppy Campaign, and they have been long-time supporters of Burnaby Hospital Foundation.
