BURNABY – Burnaby Hospital Foundation has been named the winner of Metropolis at Metrotown’s ‘Train Your Charity’ Challenge—raising $16 700 to help purchase two critically-needed surgical telescopes for Burnaby Hospital’s busy surgical department.
“We are very thankful to Metropolis at Metrotown for supporting Burnaby Hospital with this generous donation and giving us this unique opportunity,” said Marcia Harrison, Acting President with Burnaby Hospital Foundation. “To be named the winner of the ‘Train Your Charity’ challenge is exciting news. The Challenge was a rewarding experience that afforded us the opportunity to create awareness about Burnaby Hospital’s urgent equipment needs; it also enabled us to connect with members of the community who wished to share their own personal stories about why they support the hospital.”
The special event was held on November 20, 2010 as part of Train Your Charity: The Metropolis Express Fall 2010 Challenge, which is a Metropolis at Metrotown community initiative helping Burnaby-based organizations continue their selfless acts of good in the community.
"Metropolis at Metrotown is thrilled to continue our support of such valuable community organizations, including the Burnaby Hospital Foundation, with funds raised from the Metropolis Express," said Doug MacDougall, General Manager, Metropolis at Metrotown. "We were really blown away by the eagerness and unique self-marketing initiatives demonstrated by the Foundation and its team of volunteers, and are pleased that their drive and enthusiasm have helped to raise funds needed to purchase critical equipment for Burnaby Hospital."
