"I've been going here all my life. They take great care of their patients and it's always quick. They have my gall bladder somewhere here. I don't want it back, thank you."

BURNABY – Burnaby Hospital Foundation and Shoppers Drug Mart are partnering together in an effort to raise funds to help purchase a birthing bed for Burnaby Hospital. From now until October 15th, three Burnaby Shoppers Drug Mart locations will be working to build a tree of life in-store through the help of donations.

“We are very excited to be partnering with the Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life Campaign again to support urgent equipment needs at Burnaby Hospital focused on women’s health,” said Marcia Harrison, Acting President with Burnaby Hospital Foundation. “Burnaby Hospital delivers approximately 1,800 babies a year, and a birthing bed improves patient comfort and mobility—ensuring moms have the best possible birthing experience.”

“The entire team here at Shoppers Drug Mart is thrilled to be supporting Burnaby Hospital again this year,” shared Bojana Dzombeta, a pharmacist and owner with Shoppers Drug Mart. “Burnaby Hospital really is our hospital here in the community. We see patients that come here to fill their prescriptions all the time, and visit often since it’s just down the road.”

One birthing bed runs a high cost of $21,000—not your typical piece of equipment that goes on sale at the local electronics store. Employees of the three Burnaby Shoppers Drug Mart locations will be fundraising through the Tree of Life campaign in addition to hosting pub nights and events.
