"I've been going here all my life. They take great care of their patients and it's always quick. They have my gall bladder somewhere here. I don't want it back, thank you."

Rhythm of Life 2010 Raises $40,000 for Burnaby Hospital

Rhythm of Life Award Recipients

BURNABY – Sunday, June 6th marked the largest success to date for Burnaby Hospital Foundation’s Rhythm of Life: The Run and Walk for Everyone, with over 425 participants raising $40,000 to support Burnaby Hospital.

“Events like Rhythm of Life are truly about community and the important role it plays in building a healthy future for our community, “said Marcia Harrison, Acting President with Burnaby Hospital Foundation. “The $40,000 will support this year’s goal of raising $3 million to purchase urgently-needed equipment at Burnaby Hospital. With the support of all participants – young and golden – and companies like presenting sponsor Taiga Building Products, we really are working together to make a difference.”

This is the first year Rhythm of Life has secured a presenting sponsor—welcoming Burnaby-based Taiga Building Products to the role. While its business is focused on quality builds, Taiga’s commitment to Burnaby Hospital and the community at large centres on the importance of building a community that is healthy and well.

“Taiga is happy to be supporting an important community institution and Healthy Heart cause. We have made Burnaby home to our corporate headquarters for over 20 years and we believe building a legacy improves the community for all,” said Tom Stefan, Chief Financial Officer with Taiga Building Products. “Personally, I have grown up using the hospital facility from time to time and have also seen my children born there. Meeting the families at Rhythm of Life, I think it’s appropriate we do what we can to build the type of community we can count on.”

Proceeds from Rhythm of Life will help purchase life-saving medical, surgical, and diagnostic equipment at Burnaby Hospital in addition to supporting the Healthy Heart Program, a program focused on prevention and rehabilitation of cardiac illness.
